Martin M. Van Brauman

Martin Van Brauman is a partner in the law firm of Lowden Van Brauman LLP, and has over 16 years of experience with domestic and international tax transactions. He is board certified in Tax Law with the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. In this capacity, he advises U.S. and foreign corporations on their worldwide tax structures for global operations both domestic (federal and state) and foreign. He implements those proposals through corporate reorganizations, providing legal and tax consulting and documentation on cross-border transactions. He assists foreign companies with tax planning and consulting with inbound/outbound transactions, U.S. tax planning, and provides tax opinions and international transfer pricing studies. Martin has many years of tax controversy work, including large-case Tax Court litigation expertise. Martin has over 3 years in the global accounting practice field, and 12 years as a Senior Attorney (International Specialist) with the Office of Chief Counsel, IRS, providing legal support for complex issues. Martin has held numerous leadership positions, including Past Chair, International Law Section, Dallas Bar Association; Dallas Chapter Past President & 5th Cir. Vice-President, Federal Bar Association, among others. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at both Southern Methodist University, School of Law (LLM Tax Program) and at the University of Texas at Dallas, Masters of Accounting Program. Martin is a prolific writer, with over 30 articles in such publications as the Corporate Business Taxation Monthly, Journal of Energy and Natural Resources Law (International Bar Association), The Tax Lawyer (ABA), Journal of Natural Resources & Environmental Law, The International Lawyer (ABA). Also, he published International Tax Considerations in Foreign Oil Exploration and Production, A Guide for U.S. Companies (ABA), Monograph No. 24. He has a BE, from a Vanderbilt University, a JD from St. Mary's University, an MBA (Beta Gamma Sigma) and LLM (Tax Law), Southern Methodist University.
