B.J. Demery

Ms. Demery has over 16 years experience in the international trade industry. She began her career in domestic trucking operations and moved into international logistics while working for various international freight forwarders. Ms. Demery has an extensive knowledge of tariff classification, auditing, post entry work, and the various regulatory requirements of importing and exporting.

Ms. Demery is a licensed customs house broker and has worked as a senior compliance consultant. As a consultant, Ms. Demery had the opportunity to coordinate a strategic compliance plan with the global compliance department and senior management of a high-end retailer. She designed the product methodology used to organize and maintain a product classification database in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Ms. Demery has extensive experience assisting apparel importers in global supply chain compliance matters.

To further her passion for the international trade industry, Ms. Demery earned her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan School of Law where she was a member of the Phi Delta Phi honors fraternity. Her academic resume includes courses in international business transactions, corporate responsibilities and white collar crime. Her independent study courses centered on the ability of U.S. Customs & Border Protection to protect intellectual property rights and the effectiveness of current export controls.

Ms. Demery is also a 2007 member of the Texas Mediation Credentialing Association.

She has participated in several mediations and seeks to become a Credentialed Mediator in 2008. Additionally, Ms. Demery is currently working with the FDA Task Force on Nanotechnology: Phase II. This task force has been formed to help the agency broaden its understanding of the impact emerging nanotechnology developments will have with regard to the regulatory role the FDA must assume to both manage, yet encourage, the development of nanotechnology products.
